for many months. They thought that the bank was in the bad condition that they could not pay anyone either and it
might be collapsed. So they were asking for their money. The bank had not much
that cash ready. And emergency fund could be obtained from another bank some
thirty miles distant. There was no way of contacting Seth Govind Ram who was
holidying in Kashmir. He was also not sure that he could persuade the crowd
until the cash arrive. So he was in a dilemma.

of the following.
a) Nathu:
Nathu was a poor, sweeper boy working in
Pipalnagar Bank. He had not received his regular wages for over a year. He
demanded an extra two rupees a month from bank, but his demand was also
rejected, so he was a bit annoyed. The action of the bank- not giving his wages
become a rumour that bank had no money and was going to collapse.
b) Mrs. Shrivastava:
Mrs. Shrivastava was looking for a sweeper boy. She agreed Sitaram to give that job to his friend Nathu. She had to do some shopping. She had a friend named Mrs. Bhushan. She told her friend that the Pipalnagar Bank was not paying their employees and not paid its sweeper boy over a year.
c) Seth Govind Ram:
Seth Govind Ram was the owner of the Pipalnagar Bank. He might be
unknown about Nathu and the topic about his salary. At the time, when the rumour spread of
bankrupt, he was holidaying in Kashmir which worsten the rumour more. The bank
manager wanted to contact him when the crowd gathered asking their money in the
bank, but there was no way contacting Seth Govind Ram.
d) Sitaram:
Sitaram was the washer man’s boy. He used to deliver pressed clothes on
his head or bicycle. He was worried about Nathu. He finally found him a job in
Mrs. Srivastava’s home.
